A new round of political consultations between Egypt and Ukraine was held on 23 June 2008 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, where Ambassador/ Hesham Badr, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, headed the Egyptian delegation while Ambassador/ Oleksander Gorin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, headed the Ukrainian delegation.

Both sides discussed the considerable progress in bilateral relations throughout the last period, especially after the successful visit of the President of Ukraine to Egypt last April, which was followed by the Fifth Session of the Egypt-Ukraine Joint Committee and the official visit of the Egyptian Minister of Agriculture to Ukraine. The two officials also examined possible aspects of future cooperation in the economic, scientific and political fields.

The Ukrainian side presented Ukraine’s strategic inclinations during the coming period, especially those related to their relations with Russian and the EU countries.

Ambassador Badr also shed light on the latest developments in the Middle East region, particularly those related to the Palestinian Territories, Lebanon, Iran, Sudan, and Iraq, highlighting Egypt’s stance and role concerning each of them.
