Within the framework of promoting relations between Egypt and Azerbaijan, Assistant Foreign Minister for European Relations, Fatma El-Zahraa Etman, received the Azerbaijani Ambassador in Cairo on 21 March. During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Egypt and Azerbaijan regarding the Azerbaijani Government's possession of the land on which the Azerbaijani Embassy was built in Cairo. The meeting also tackled the different aspects of the political and economic relations between Egypt and Azerbaijan in preparation for the expected visit of the Azerbaijani President to Cairo during the period from the 6^th to the 8^th of May 2007.

Ambassador Fatma El-Zahraa Etman also received the Slovenian Ambassador to Cairo to discuss the Slovenian Initiative within the framework of the Euro/Mediterranean Partnership concerning the establishment of a Mediterranean University at Slovenia.

Moreover, both officials tackled the preparations for the visit of the Slovenian Foreign Minister, Dimitrij Rupel, to Cairo on 9 May 2007, within the context of his tour to countries in the region.
