Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs, Ambassador Fatma Al-Zahraa, held a coordination meeting with a representative from the Ministry of Manpower and Immigration in the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on 1 march 2007, during which they discussed the broad lines of the Conference, within the framework of preparing for the Euro-Mediterranean Ministerial Meeting on social dialogue and employment (Berlin – 16 March 2007), as a preliminary step towards the convention of the First Conference for the Ministers of employment within the framework of Barcelona Process during 2008.
The Ambassador highlighted the importance of the effective Egyptian participation in the Conference, pointing out the importance given by Egypt to this important sector, especially in light of the efforts of developing human resources and capacity building, which are considered two main pillars for the ongoing development process in Egypt.
Within this context, Fatma Al-Zahraa emphasized Egypt's role as a coordinator of the Arabic Group within the framework of the European-Mediterranean partnership to pursue consultation with the Arab members of the Barcelona Process to prepare for Berlin Conference to reach a joint Arabic stance towards the employment issue in the region, especially in the occupied Arabic Countries. |
