17 September, 2007… 1.      A delegation from the Peoples' assembly visited Denmark during the period from 2 to 8 September 2007. The visit comes within the framework of the Program prepared by the Egyptian Danish institute for Dialogue concerning " promoting parliamentary contacts with the Society ", which is being implemented in cooperation with the Egyptian Society for disseminating and improving legal awareness. This visit is the second to Denmark;  as the first was for a delegation from the  Education and Scientific research committee during the period form 25 till 28 February 2008. 2.      The delegation met with the Danish Minister of Education, Bertel Haarder with whom they reviewed the features of the Danish education policy and educational structure, the Danish experiment in improving the education system and evaluating its quality in conformity with the general vocational framework, and means of benefiting from Danish expertise in improving scientific research and the education system in Egypt. The Danish Minister of Education expressed his country's readiness to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of education, considering the positive developments he touched in the Egyptian educational system during his visit to Egypt to attend Euro Mediterranean conference for the Ministers of Education and Scientific research in June 2007. 3.       The delegation visited the Danish parliament where they got acquainted with the fundamentals of the (Danish) parliamentary system, the role of parliamentary committees, and the scope of their jurisdiction particularly with regards to their supervisory role on the performance of the government institutions and drafting of laws and legislations.   4.      The program also included many meetings for the Egyptian delegation with officials from the Danish Ministry of Education to get acquainted with the education structure, particularly administration methods in the field of vocational education.  The delegation will also discuss issues relating to the quality of education and promoting competitive capabilities. Ambassador Afaf el Maraziki held a ceremony in tribute to the Parliamentary delegation at the Ambassador's residence, to which she invited the Danish Minister of Education, Bertel Haarder . The Ambassador highlighted Egypt's keenness to develop the Education Sector, and the importance of the visit in enhancing and intensifying dialogue on the parliamentary and popular levels.
