First founding meeting of the Egyptian-Nigerian Business Council was held at the Egyptian Embassy in Abuja on 28 May. The meeting was attended by Head of Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Egypt's Ambassador in Abuja, Sherif Najeeb, both Egypt’s media and trade counselors in Lagos as well as a number of senior business men interested in trade in Egypt.

The establishment of Egyptian-Nigerian Business Council constitutes one of the cooperation mechanisms for trade and investment between Egypt and Nigeria. It aims to promote trade and investment between the two countries and to affirm the principle of private sector ownership to guarantee the Council’s freedom of action and continuity.
