Within the framework of an African tour, Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs, Ambassador Shamel Naser met with Foreign Minister of Djibouti Mahmoud Ali Yousef,, on March 17th 2008, to held consultations in participation with the Officials of the Djiboutian Foreign Ministry, and the Director of the Arabic Department, on the means of developing bilateral relations between Egypt and Djibouti, in addition to prepare for the joint committee between both countries and the Egyptian preparations for hosting the next African Union Summit .

The Egyptian Ambassador in Djibouti, Ambassador Farghaly Taha, attended the consultations, on the Egyptian Side, that tackled other political issues, the African Conflicts, and the importance of the Egyptian-Djiboutian coordination in this regard.

Ambassador Shamel Naser stated after the meeting that the consultations were cordial and fructuous, it also showed agreement on view points regarding different issues that were discussed, and reflected the distinct brotherly relationships between both countries.
