21 April 2008…. Three days Seminar on “The Egyptian strategy in Africa” started on April 21st, 2008. The seminar was organized by the Egyptian council for African relations in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry, at the headquarters of the information centre affiliated to the cabinet. Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs, Ambassador Shamel Nasser, delivered a speech in the opening session, in which he pointed out that Africa, takes high priority in the Egyptian foreign policy. He stated that Egypt's present and future are tied to Africa, affirming Egypt's continuous and pioneering role in the continent that has never regressed but it has changed according to the continent's conditions after achieving liberation and ending the occupation , as the continent moved to a new phase where it has to face the challenges of development and regional cooperation. Assistant Minister welcomed the unified efforts exerted by all governmental institutions and Egyptian society foundations, together with the efforts of the Foreign Ministry, in seeking support for the Egypt’s African diplomacy that aim at achieving the interests of Egyptians, based on the principle Egypt endorses to back all the African countries’ efforts in achieving stability and development.
