The Egyptian ambassador to Somalia, Saeed Morsi, delivered 12 tons of medicine and vaccines to the AU's special representative to Somalia, as a gift from the Egyptian government and people to the African peacekeeping forces in Mogadishu “AMISOM” for supporting stability and security there.
In a statement following his participation in the concluding session of the National Reconciliation Conference held in Mogadishu, the Egyptian ambassador said that he was keen to announce the Egyptian contribution during his discourse at the conference on behalf of Egypt, to express Egypt's complete support for all efforts aiming at regaining security, stability, and peace to Somalia, as well as speeding up the achievement of the comprehensive national reconciliation among all the Somali people and parties without exception.
The Egyptian ambassador added that upon receiving the directives from Foreign Minister, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, he headed directly to Mogadishu to deliver the Egyptian gift to the AU forces, affirming Egypt's total support for the hard mission of the AMISOM and interest in the success of the AU peacekeeping forces in assuming their task successfully. |
