US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Jendayi Frazer conducted a short visit to Cairo on November 25th, during which she met with Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs, Ambassador Shamel Naser.
Both sides held consultations where they discussed African issues of common concern, including the situation in Sudan, the UN and AU efforts to establish peace in Darfur and alleviate the suffering of its inhabitants, as well as the developments of the relation between the ruling partners in northern and southern of Sudan. Both sides have also exchanged views concerning the developments of the situation in the African Horn.
This visit comes within the framework of the continuous consultations between the Egyptian Foreign Ministry and the US Department of State, which is expected to continue, through the visit of Ambassador Naser to Washington, during the period from 10 to 14 December.
Ms. Frazer departed Cairo heading to Alexandria to participate in the ceremony of awarding Former Mozambican President Joaquim Chissano the Mo Ibrahim International Prize, which will be held November 26th, at Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
