A celebration was held in a Burundian military base on June 19th on the occasion of the delivery of assistance presented by the Egyptian Defense Ministry to its Burundian counterpart. The celebration was attended by Burundi's Minister for National Defense and War Veterans Lt-Gen Germain Niyoyankana and his senior assistants. It was also attended by Director of the African Department in the Burundian Foreign Ministry and a number of media representatives.
In his speech, the Burundian Foreign Minister expressed profound gratitude for the government of Egypt. He addressed the important role played by the Egyptian Defense Ministry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in organizing training sessions for the Burundian army's officials, since years, in expression of solidarity and friendship between the two countries. Niyoyankana outlined that the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa, affiliated to the Foreign Ministry, has dispatched three experts to work at the Military Hospital in Burundi, and the current consultations in view of training a number of military physicians in the Egyptian military hospitals.
In the speech delivered on this occasion, Egypt's ambassador to Burundi, Mohamed Khashab, affirmed Egyptian government's and people's keenness to help the Burundian government restore security and stability. He pointed to Egypt's contribution in re-building the security sector in Burundi through the sessions held in Cairo for the Burundian army and police. |
