14 January 2008… Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs and AU Affairs, Ambassador Shamel Nasser meets with African ambassadors accredited to Cairo, at the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, on January 14th 2008, to discuss a number of various issues including the current preparations for the AU Summit which will be held in Addis Ababa, by the end of January 2008. During the meeting, Ambassador Nasser indicated that Egypt accords high priority to the issue of Industrial Development in Africa, which is going to represent the core of the AU Summit, especially under Egypt’s presidency of the ministerial meeting for the African Ministers of industry. Ambassador Naser also reviewed the African sector's plan to inform the African ambassadors about various economic and trade activities, which can constitute a model for cooperation between Egypt and the African countries. Ambassador Naser also extended an invitation to the African ministers to visit the “Smart Village” to acknowledge them about its activity with the possibility of establishing similar projects in African countries.
