Minister of Foreign Affairs Receives The Emirati Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received on Tuesday December 20, 2016, The UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Anwar Gargash.
Ahmad Abu Zeid, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, declared that Shoukry commended the profound fraternal relations between both countries and their people during the meeting. The minister also asserted Egypt’s eagerness on furthering this relation in different fields for the interest of the Egyptian and Emirati peoples. Emirati Minister of Foreign Affairs equally confirmed his country’s eagerness on constant consultation and coordination with Egypt as well as cooperation on the bilateral level for marinating an outstanding relations. On the regional level, Gargash affirmed talks on the crises the region suffers from and the best means for addressing and settlement.
The bilateral meeting attested talks on the overall regional matters, furthermore crises, tension, and turbulence hit states’ institutions and entities and adversely impacted the destinies of their peoples particularly in Syria, Yemen, and Libya. Both parties affirmed the importance of political settlement for those crises to cease blood shed of innocent citizens, maintain peoples’ destinies and preserve Arab territorial integrity, added the spokesperson.
In the same context, Shoukry updated the Emirati Minister on the outcomes of his communications and meetings during his latest visit to Washington. Both parties exchanged views on appraising the future relations between Arab states and the new USA Administration, in addition to the results of the last Cairo meeting with key Libyan figures in terms of ideas and proposals. Nonetheless, Shoukry stressed the necessity of the provision of opportunity to the Libyan people to identify their priorities and choices without any external intervention. In response to Gargash’s inquiries, Shoukry presented Egypt’s vision on the resumption of Palestinian-Israeli negotiations, in addition to Egypt’s efforts to urge both parties to return to negotiation table. Shoukry, furthermore, emphasized Egypt’s firm and rigorous stance in support of Palestinian people’s aspirations.
Abu Zeid concluded his statement referring to the concurrent views held by both ministers on the significance of cooperation and coordination enhancement for the protection of Arab national security, intensified efforts for combating terrorism and extremist ideologies, and confrontation of intervention attempts with in Arab affairs.
