Foreign Minister Receives his Omani Counterpart
Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry, received on Tuesday December 20, 2016 Mr. Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs Youssef Ben Alawi.
During the meeting, Omani minister confirmed Oman’s full support to Egypt and to the president Abdul Fattah El Sisi within the framework of the fraternal ties between both countries. Oman’s minister stressed Egypt’s ability to overcome current challenges entirely. He also expressed Oman’s keenness to push forward bilateral relations in all fields in fulfillment of Omani-Egyptian aspirations, stated Counselor Ahmad Abu Zeid, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson.
The spokesperson confirmed that the meeting tackled means for addressing crises that the Arab region suffers from, the Yemeni and the Syrian in particular, besides the Libyan cause. Both parties affirmed political settlement for crises in maintenance of peoples’ destinies and Arab-Islamic territorial integrity and sovereignty. Minister Ben Alawi updated Shoukry on the latest developments in Yemen as well as Omani’s mediation efforts between Yemeni parties for attainment of political settlement. Shoukry expressed Egypt’s appreciation to the Omani efforts for rapprochement and reinforcement of Yemeni political crisis.
Abu Zeid added that Egypt-Omani foreign ministers meeting dealt in expatiation with risk assessment of Arab national security. Moreover, both sides quietly affirmed the necessity of Arab solidarity maintenance against all attempts of undermining Arab countries security and stability. In this regard, Egypt has a holistic vision for Arab national security, deals with the entire current challenges including those related to Arab gulf security, for it is inseparable from Egypt’s national security, Shoukry added.
