Foreign Minister meets with Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Austrian Parliament
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid stated that Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Friday, October 14, Mr. Joseph Cap chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Austrian Parliament, where Shoukry outlined the latest developments inEgypt, particularly the Egyptian government's efforts to ensure political stability and security, strengthening democratic institutions, as well as the economy, in light of the near completion of the loan agreement with the International Monetary Fund.
The Foreign Minister also discussed Egypt's efforts to deal with the major issues in the region and the world, topped by anti-terrorism efforts in light of Egypt's membership in the UN Security Council and its presidency of the Counter-Terrorism Committee of the United Nations, as well as the fight against extremism and the efforts by Egypt to spread Islamic values of moderation. TheForeign Minister also stressed the continuing Egyptian desire to intensify and strengthen cooperation with Austria in the parliamentary field through inviting the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee and a delegation from the committee, and a number of representatives of the Parliamentary Friendship Association of Austria with the Middle East and North Africa to visit Egypt and meet with the Speaker of the Egyptian Parliamentand members of the Foreign Affairs Committee.
For his part, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Austrian parliament was keen to learn about the Egyptian point of view towards the major regional issues, particularly the situation in Syria and Libya, as well as Egyptian efforts to revive negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
The foreign minister also met with a number of leaders of Austrian political parties, and had a tour in the Austrian parliament on the invitation of the Austrian side.
