Egypt condemns reported killing of Japanese hostage
The Arab Republic of Egypt expresses its strongest condemnation and absolute rejection of the reported murder of a Japanese individual that was held hostage by the ISIL terrorist group. If the video depicting the murder being circulated is verified as authentic, this revolting crime would represent a brutal act that contradicts the teachings of Islam and violates the most basic principles of ethics and humanity.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Egypt’s sincerest condolences to the government and people of Japan. He reiterated Egypt's unwavering stance regarding terrorism as a global phenomenon, which requires concerted regional and international efforts to put an end to these criminal groups that practice violence and terrorism in the name of religion, despite religion being innocent of their deeds. The spokesperson also stressed the necessity of uniting all efforts in the context of a comprehensive strategy to confront this deplorable scourge which targets security, stability and development throughout the world.
